Shireland Biomedical UTC Sixth Form will be exhibiting at the Connexions Sandwell New Year New Start Careers Fair on Saturday 24 January 2026 from 9:30am-2:00pm at The Hawthorns, West Bromwich, B71 4LF.
This free event offers young people aged 14-25 the chance to explore a wide range of education and career pathways. With over 50 exhibitors, including colleges, universities, apprenticeship providers, and leading employers, attendees can gain valuable insights to help shape their futures.
Specialising in health and medical sciences, Shireland Biomedical UTC Sixth Form, offers a unique combination of academic and vocational courses designed to meet the needs and aspirations of its students.
The sixth form focuses on preparing young people for higher education, apprenticeships, and professional careers. It combines academic excellence with tailored pastoral care, expert career guidance, and a wide range of extracurricular programmes. These opportunities help students develop the essential skills, confidence, and resilience needed to succeed in a competitive job market and life beyond sixth form.
Visitors to the fair will also have the chance to learn about the Sixth Form’s state-of-the-art facilities, including a mock hospital ward and immersive learning space. These resources allow students to apply classroom theory in real-world contexts, building practical experience, skills, and confidence for future success.
The Academy’s partnerships with leading institutions, such as Birmingham City University and local healthcare providers, give students valuable exposure to their chosen fields. These collaborations help bridge the gap between academia and industry, providing hands-on learning experiences, career progression opportunities, and essential networking platforms.
Jo Lawrence, Head of Sixth Form, said: “At Shireland Biomedical UTC Sixth Form, our focus is on guiding each student towards the post-16 pathway that suits their ambitions and strengths.
“We take pride in offering a learning experience that balances practical study with strong academic foundations. This approach helps students grow as independent, well-rounded learners who are ready for success in education and beyond.”
The Connexions Sandwell New Year New Start Careers Fair is the perfect opportunity to meet Shireland CBSO Academy Sixth Form representatives and discover their unique post-16 offering. Whether students are just starting their research or finalising their options for September 2026, the Academy team will be on hand to offer advice and answer any questions.
